After experiencing the world of airline crash pads, PHX Crew Pads was created to provide a healthier environment for pilots.
Many crash pads offer multiple occupancy bedrooms, bunk beds, "hot beds" and a single bathroom to be shared by all. Not only is this uncomfortable and potentially unsafe, but rest is constantly disrupted due to differing arrival and departure times. PHX Crew Pads provides single occupancy bedrooms, and a bathroom shared by a maximum of two people in order to cultivate a safe, peaceful and restful environment. As a traditional crash pad we do not offer full time accommodations and limit the number of nights a pilot can use the crash pad to 12. The traditional crash pad pilot flies into PHX to catch a trip the next day. Upon completion of the trip, and the availability of a flight that day, the pilot flies home. Otherwise, the pilot spends that night in the crash pad and flies home the next day.
We are located in a small single-family home neighborhood approximately nine miles southwest of KPHX in South Phoenix. PHX Crew Pads maintains a drug and smoke free environment.
As mentioned on the first page of this site, pilots must line holders for a Part 121 carrier and commuters (commute from home in another state) in order to qualify. Those on reserve or who bid turns, do not qualify.
To protect PHX Crew Pads, we always conduct an in-person interview (no exceptions) at a nearby public establishment before making the decision to continue the process, provide the physical address, and show the accommodations. At the interview, a current, valid airline ID must be presented. Once the interview process is successfully completed, the pilot is required to sign a contract indicating he/she understands, accepts, and will adibe by, PHX Crew Pads House Rules.
First month's rent is required. The deposit will be refunded (minus deductions for damage) upon providing 30 days departure notice and leaving the bedroom and bathroom as they were upon arrival. Deposits cannot be used as the last month's rent.
The crash pad is in a private home that is, and will remain, clean and peaceful at all times. Pilots are responsible for maintaining their own rooms and bathroom as they were upon arrival. Note - if you're looking for the "hotel experience" at the crash pad rate, seek accommodations elsewhere.
